William E. Reed

Age 85 years, passed away Friday, August 25, 2006 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Springfield, IL on September 18, 1920, he graduated from Oak Park High School and Coe College.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Judo instructor for the Navy and Seabees personnel. In 1943, William gave a demonstration and performed Judo for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in England. William was a volunteer for Trinity Service Inc and for the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Angela (nee Porfilio) Reed; his daughter, Barbara Reed of California; his son, William Reed Jr. of Rhode Island; brother-in-law of Lenora (late, Maurice) D'Alessio, Gloria (late, Robert) Briney, Viola (Raymond) Stimac, Donna Porfilio and Lance (Nance) Porfilio. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Marjorie Reed.
Funeral Services will be held at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home (Tapella Funeral Service) on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11 AM with Rev. Donald Lewandowski, OSM officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home, Monday morning, August 28th from 10 AM until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Arrangements by:
