Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Son of Apostle Matthias F. Cowley. At the age of six he was given a patriarchal blessing stating, "you shall be sent as a delegate to the ten tribes . . ." among many other things to draw insight into his ministry as a Saint.
At the age of seventeen he was sent to New Zealand where he translated the Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price into their native language.
Upon his return home he studied law and became an aide to Senator and Apostle Reed Smoot.
Upon his second mission as Pacific Mission President, it again fulfilled his early blessing that he would become, "greatly beloved by that people," in which his labor of love there is still evident among all the Saints of the islands.
