Roy and his bride, Frances Babb, on May 8, 1937, at the old Dug Gap Baptist Church in Dalton, GA. They had earlier gone out together and gathered mountain laurel to decorate the church. Their marriage endured for more than 61 years, until Frances's death in August 1998. They were totally devoted to each other.
