 I presently live about 20 miles south of the Bowman home and mausoleum.When I was about 15 years old, I took a few rides with my truck driver uncle, and our route took us past the Bowman mausoleum. I always asked my uncle to stop so we could look closer, but he never would. About 10 years later, I had the opportunity to visit this maudlin tomb on my own.Mr. Bowman's marble statue has a number of fine cracks. So that freezing water does not damage the statue further, in winter, it is enclosed in a galvanized metal case every Fall, and the case is removed the following Spring.Mr Bowman, in addition to building the mausoleum, renovated the entire cemetery.- Raymond Makul Added: Sep. 15, 2010 | |||
