Bluegrass Musician. Nicknamed "Hylo" because of his vocal range, he launched his bluegrass career from Springfield, Ohio at the age of 18. He debuted in 1958 with Capitol records with his band the 'Timberliners'. He was a lead singer for Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and the 'Foggy Mountain Boys'. Brown was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1959. In later years he performed on his own, coming out with a number one hit, "Lost to A Stranger," which was later recorded by Ricky Skaggs. His career spanned four decades. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Kentucky Hall of Fame.
