British Royalty. The daughter of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany and Princess Helena of Waldeck, she was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She married Prince Alexander of Teck, a brother of Queen Mary, on February 10, 1904 at St. George's Chapel. When the royal family dropped all Germanic titles in 1917, the couple became the Earl and Countess of Athlone. They had three children: May, Rupert, and Maurice. The Earl died in 1957. Alice continued to live at Kensington Palace, and attended the coronations of four monarchs in her lifetime. She died at the age of 97, making her the longest surviving grandchild of Queen Victoria.
