Egyptian Queen. She was born during the seventeenth dynasty, and was the sister and wife of Pharaoh Ahmose I. She became regent for her son, Amenhotep I, upon her husband's death and reigned until he reached adulthood. Her name appears on monuments from Saï to Tura. She outlived her son, and was still alive during the first year of the reign of Thutmose I. She held the office of Second Prophet of Amun, but renounced the title when she became the first living, royal woman to be known as God's Wife of Amun. When she died in the early eighteenth dynasty she became the last queen to be worshipped as a deity in a Theban funerary cult until the twenty-first dynasty. Her mummy was found in the cache of royal mummies at Deir el Bahri
