Christian Bortoli was born in 1860 at Osage, Italy. In 1879 he married Christina Furner of Canton Zurich, Switzerland. They came to the United States in 1886, where they located in Minnesota, later moving to Nuckolls county (sic) where they lived until nine years ago at which time they moved to Deshler, where Mrs. Bortoli preceded him in death by a little more than four months. Mr. Bortoli leaves an adopted son and many friends to mourn his death. Mr. Bortoli passed from this life Saturday morning, after an illness of several months. The funeral was held from the residence and Presbyterian church (sic) Monday afternoon. Rev. Clinton J. Frank preached the funeral sermon and a special choir furnished the music. A large number were present from Deshler and several former neighbors from Nuckolls county (sic) were also present. – Deshler Rustler.
