Karen was employed by O-I and retired in 2000 from MCO, where she worked in their student grants program. She was a volunteer at Evergreen Elementary School and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Karen and Bob spent winters in Arizona and holidays at Lake Diane. She enjoyed dancing, flower gardening, bird watching, nature, walking and traveling with Bob in their RV. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wife.
Besides her loving husband, Robert, Karen is survived by her son, Bruce Cook, and his children, Alex, Christopher, and Tiffany; son, Nicholas Wilson, and his daughter, Emma; stepson, Michael (Karen) Ackerman, and their children, Mike and Taylor; stepson, Steve (Jenny) Ackerman; stepson, David (Beverly) Ackerman, and their children, Tyler and Caleb; stepson, Doug Ackerman; and sister, Nancy (Larry) Metzger.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Gamble, and sister, Susan Johnson.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, November 1, 2012, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday, November 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Following the wake service, interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
