Marilyn P. Belangee, 81, of Taylorville, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Garden Court Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.
She was born June 9, 1931 in Taylorville, the daughter of Russell Edward and Leona Bates Bell.
On October 22, 1950 she married Douglas Peters in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1963. She then married Virgil W. Belangee on November 20, 1965 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1998.
Marilyn graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1949. She spent her lifetime as a bookkeeper working for the Christian County Farm Bureau, Essen Hardware, Hopper-Sangamon Credit Union and the Taylorville Community Credit Union. Marilyn was also part owner of the V & M Variety Store on the Taylorville Square. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville serving on many committees through the years. She was also active with the United Methodist Women, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and several bridge clubs. Marilyn and Virgil loved to travel together and spent an unforgettable time in Europe with dear friends visiting the World War II locations.
Surviving are her sons, Mark Peters and wife, Sharon, Bradley Peters and wife, Bridget; step-son, Dave Belangee and wife, Paulette; step-daughter, Ruth Miller and husband, Les; eight grandchildren, Brenden Peters, Colleen Peters, Doug Peters, Laura Peters, Bryan Miller, Eric Miller, Nicki Belangee and Vicki Belangee; four great-grandchildren, Collin Miller, Gavin Miller, Lauren Miller, and Kolby Peters and step-sisters, Elma Masters and Gloria Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands and two sisters, Virginia Rosengrant and Norma Connolly.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home on Monday.
Funeral services for Marilyn P. Belangee, 81, of Taylorville, were held Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville, with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Pastor Becky Lembke officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Doug Peters, Laura Peters, Brenden Peters, Colleen Peters, Bryan Miller, Eric Miller and Paul Rosengrant.
