Elsie M. Smith was born near Ottumwa,
Wapello county, Iowa on May 5, 1861,
where she resided until she was married
to Albert A. Cook on October 20, 1886,
when they moved to Kansas and lived
wt the present home until she passed
away on October 19, 1914. She had
been in poor health for some time,
and had only recently returned from
the Arkansas City Hospital.
To this union was born seven children
Nora, Blinn and Orville A. Cook of
Colorado, Harold A. Edna, Hazel and
George Reginald of the home, and
Etha Fern, who passed away in infancy.
She is also survived by four sisters,
Laura F. Johnson, Irving, Kansas Mary
E. Rush, and Kate R. Smith of Iowa,
Melissa King, Bellingham, Washington.
Funeral services were held at the family
home on Thursday afternoon conducted
by Mr. Lane of Nebraska who formerly
lived in Antioch neighborhood.
Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
