PIONEER OF THIS CITY DIES, TRAIL
Mrs. Isabella Forteath came to Rossland 45 Years Ago—Much Respected Resident
Mrs. Isabella Forteath one of Rossland’s early pioneers passed away yesterday afternoon in Trail-Tadenac Hospital at the age of 86 years. Well-known by oldtimers in this city, Mrs. Forteath was one of the city’s most respected residents. She came here with her husband, Sam Forteath, in 1895.
Mrs. Forteath, who was born in Polnackie, Kurkendbrightshire, was predeceased by her husband in 1929. Coming to Rossland 45 years ago, Mr. Forteath was employed in the mines here. Their family of one daughter and three sons were brought up here and attended the local schools…Surviving her are one daughter, Mrs. George Wardel of Victoria; three sons, Samuel Walker of Kimberley, Donald Wallace and Wesley Gordon Bruce of Trail; twelve grandchildren, seven great grand children; two nephews, Thomas McColm of Trail and John McColm of Ross Spur; and one niece, Mrs. Walter Sanderson of Rossland.
The funeral will be held Saturday.
