TOUCHING TRIBUTE BY FELLOW WORKERS
From the zest of campaigns among themselves in the Liberty Loan, Red Cross, the Y. M. A. and in other directions, to aid in the war work of Uncle Sam, in which remarkable records were established, the boys of the Box factory on Tuesday turned to the sad and more serious duty of life when they lifted the burden of funeral expenses from Mrs. Jesse Gay, widow of one of the employees of the plant.
Mr Gay had been an employee of the factory for three years He contracted pneumonia and Tuesday passed away at the hospital, leaving a wife and three children. So highly regarded was he by the employees of the box factory that permission was asked of Superintendent Quincy Brooks to subscribe to a fund to defray the funeral expenses. Mr. Brooks gladly consented and secured the paper and aided in its circulation with the result over $100 was subscribed
Mr Gay was the son of Orrin L. Gay and was 33 years old. Besides his immediately family he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Olive Veal, of Princeton, Minn a brother, Sam Gay, Twenty-first street and Park avenue, and his aged father. The funeral will be held tomorrow after noon at 3 o'clock from the Baptist church. Rev. A. Whitby will officiate Interment will be made in Greenwood.

Cemetery records show that Jesse is buried at Greenwood Cemetery but the grave is not marked with a memorial stone.
