W. Keith Morris, 69, of Rivesville, died Saturday (Oct. 6, 2012) at the Genesis Healthcare Tygart Center in Fairmont following a six-month battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 26, 1943 in Hoodsville, a son of the late Ancle Boyd Morris and Freda Moore Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Karen S. Morris of Rivesville, whom he married in 1966.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Tonya Annino and her husband Brian of Marietta, Ga., and Daniel Morris and his wife Kristin of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; three sisters, Cora Sue Cross of Fairmont, Eva Williams of Fairmont, and Nancy Martin and her husband Jerry of Fairmont; a brother, Larry B. Morris of Fairmont; and many relatives and friends.

Keith was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a special son-in-law to Irene Helman.

He was a 1961 graduate of Rivesville High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1961-69. He was a former coal miner for Bethlehem Steel with 28 years of service and was employed by the West Virginia University Maintenance and Athletic departments until his retirement in 2007.

Keith was a member of the United Mine Workers Association District 31, having worked for Bethlehem Steel in Barrackville and Summersville.

He was an avid golfer, sports fan of WVU football and basketball and also the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The family would like to thank Dr. M. Almubarak and his nurses at the WVU Cancer Center and the wonderful staff on the 200 Hall at the Genesis Heathcare Tygart Center.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 1-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Larry Buckland officiating. The committal service will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
