Josephine "Jo" Irene Cameron was born on May 31, 1936 in Butte, Montana to Archie and Hazel Cameron. Jo was born into a large family with 5 brothers and 4 sisters. As a young girl she grew up in a small white house on Woolman St. Her family went on to follow the agricultural harvesters picking anything from ground or tree or bush and even cotton. Jo's daddy was a coal mine worker which forced the family to move from place to place. The family resided anywhere from Washington, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Texas. As a school girl, Jo attended several schools in Idaho, Washington, and Montana. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1955.
September following graduation, Jo married Robert Lee Nelson. They started a family with their first born, Dorthy Ann. They had 4 more children, Diane Kay, Thomas Ray, and the twins, Roberta Lynn, and Raymond Lee. Jo and Robert moved their family to Washington in 1969 where they raised their children. In 1975 Jo became a grandma when Diane had her first born, Marlo Jo.
Jo and Robert divorced and parted ways. Jo went on to meet Clifford H. Bouton Jr. otherwise known as Micky. Jo and Micky married April 28, 1979. Jo gained many friendships while bartending in Kent, WA. In 1983 Jo and Micky moved back to Montana where Jo worked at the Blue & White Motel, and the Red Lion Inn. Over the years Jo had children and grandchildren come to live with her in Kalispell.
In 1989 she decided to move back to Washington to be with her children and grandchildren. Tommy came over to drive their belongings to Washington. Jo and Micky moved in with Roberta and her daughter Bobbi to help take care of Roberta's new baby, Christopher until they found a mobile home in the Circle K mobile park downtown Kent, WA. Jo worked for Heath Tecna where she accomplished many things like participation in building the Boeing 737. Jo was forced to retire when she obtained an on the job injury with a pinched nerve in her neck that permanently disabled her.
Jo's grandchildren spent most of their time hanging out at grandma's. Jo sold her trailer and moved into the red carpet apartments. After residing there for a short while, she moved to Oregon near her son Raymond. She rented a house on Hwy 30 in Westport. While living in Westport Jo became very ill. She had to have multiple surgeries due to an intestinal blockage. In 2005 she decided to move back to Washington to be closer with family and to be closer to the VA for Micky's medical care. Jo and Micky found a house to purchase near Lake Meridian in Kent.
By making this choice to move, Jo was very happy to be able to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jo's family always came first. They were very special to her and she would do anything for any one of them. Jo enjoyed the Casino. She loved her late night rendezvous? playing slots. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, Bunko, Pinochle, Sewing, Painting, Puzzles, Outdoor Activities, Grandchildren Sporting Events, and most importantly family get togethers. Jo also looked very forward to traveling back home to visit with brothers and sisters and often would end up with a car load and followers. She enjoyed taking family out to dinner to either the Starting Gate or Red Lotus.
Jo was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Dorthy. She regularly visited Dorthy and decorated her gravesite often.
Late 2011 Jo experienced some shoulder pain. She had surgery for a torn rotary cuff. After months of physical therapy she only seemed to get worse. A second surgery was planned for September 13th. The pain took a toll on her and the Lord decided to take away her pain peacefully while she slept on Sept. 3rd 2012. Jo was able to spend her last night enjoying dinner at the Starting Gate followed by a winning night at Muckleshoot Casino with Tommy. She will forever be in our hearts and truly missed!
