THOMAS EUGENE HARPER, 79, of 605 Gregory St., Pocahontas, a former resident of Maynard, died Tuesday, Feb. 15,2000, at St. Bernards Retional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born Sept. 3, 1920, near Stokes, a son of the late George Thomas and Laura Mae (Davis) Harper. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

His wife, Nancy Lucille Kerley Harper, and brothers, Calvin and Clifford Harper, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Clifford Harper and Gary Harper, both of Jonesboro; three daughters, Mae Samons of Maynard, Bonnie Rickman of Pocahontas and Carolyn Harper of Jonesboro; three sisters, Mable Daniels of DeSoto, MO.; Aldine Davis of Pocahontas and Mazie Thompson of Humboldt, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Danny Wells and Gary Buxton officiating. Burial followed in Maynard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rob, Tim and Ben Samons, Luke and Louis Bergman, and Anthony (Tony) and Tracy Pierce. Honorary pallbearers were Olan Samons, Jerry Daniels and Charley Thompson.

Memorials may be made to the Maynard Cemetery Fund or the Harper Cemetery Fund. PSH FEB. 24, 2000.
