~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ezra was born in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois in 1893. The family moved, in 1908, to Muskegon, Michigan. Ezra, Sr. had been hired as the millwright for Continental Motors, an early automobile engine manufactor. Ez graduated from Hackley High School in 1910. He continued his studies to become a "normal school" teacher. Normal school is teaching for the trades: wood shop, metalshop, drafting, and photography. In 1914 while teaching, he was also the basketball coach at Isaac C. Elston High School in Michigan City, Indiana. After serving in the US Army in France in WW I, Ez accepted a teaching job at the high school in Greenville, Illinois. He met Altie (Coop) Hall on a double date and after several dates, asked her to marry him. She was living, in town, with her Aunt Alti Robinson Coop who had raised since she was 4 or 5 years old. They were engaged in late Fall of 1920 or January of 1921. Altie's aunt died suddenly of pneumonia on February 12, 1921. Altie settled her aunt's estate and sold her aunt's house and furniture. She was invited to move in with her cousin in Dyersburg, Tennessee. They were married on June 03, 1921 in Dyersburg, Dyer Co., Tennessee at her cousins house. They moved back to Muskegon for two years. Ez returned to Continetal Motors as a tool and die maker. In the summer of 1923, Ez found a job as a "normal" teacher in Nevada. They moved and arrived on August 4, 1923 in the company town of McGill, White Pine Co., Nevada. About 1935, Ez accepted a job at the high school in Ely, White Pine Co., Nevada. By the mid 1930's, Ez advanced from teacher to principal of White Pine County High School. In the early 1950's, he was promoted to superintendent of White Pine County Schools. Ez and Altie retired in January of 1958 to Youngtown, Maricopa Co., Arizonia. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
