Singer, Actor. Born in Los Angeles to Mexican immigrant parents, he began his career singing with Gus Arnheim's orchestra at the Cocoanut Grove and on the radio show "Your Hit Parade" in the 1940s. Possessed with a romantic baritone voice, he sang songs in English and Spanish, with his biggest hit being "Besame Mucho" (1945). For feature films, he appeared in "The Stork Club" (1945), "Breakfast in Hollywood" (1946), "Make Mine Music" (1946) and "Copacabana" (1947).
