Deaths and Obituaries from the Macomb JOURNAL, Thursday, 21 December, 1882:
"Cale, Mary died at her residence in Macomb on December 17th aged 75 years 1 month 5 days. She was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1807. Her maiden name was Hindman. She lived there until girlhood and then with her parents she moved to another part of the state. A few years later they moved to Trumbull County, Ohio where in 1830 she married Stephen Cale. In 1856 with her husband and then large family, she moved to Iowa for 3 years, then to Missouri where they lived from 1859-1862. They then moved to Macomb. Her husband died in 1875. She was the mother of 10 children, 8 of whom are now living. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith but joined the [Methodist] Church 6 years ago. The funeral was Tuesday with burial in the Bailey graveyard, 3 miles southwest of this place."
