February 1905 Obituary, ASA NIMS DEAD A Well Known Citizen of Adamsville Sinks into an eternal Sleep. Asa Nims who for many years worked at the harness making business in Adamsville died at the family residence on main street last Thursday evening. A few weeks ago he was taken sick of kidney trouble complicated with other diseases and kept gradually growing worse until the end came. Asa Nims was born in Zanesville September 15, 1832.
He learned the harness making business in his father's shop and upon reaching manhood came to Adamsville to work at the trade. He worked for several years in D. Gerber's harness shop and afterward engaged in business for himself. He was a good steady workman and soon became widely known in his chosen avocation. Some time after coming to Adamsville, Mr. Nims married Sidney, daughter of Dennison Ross, who lived near Adamsville. In less than a year death claimed his companion and he was left without any family to bear his grief alone.
His second marriage was to Mary Elizabeth Decker, daughter of the late Henry Decker, and to this union seven children were born, six of whom with their mother survive and mourn the departure of a kind husband and an affectionate father. The other child died in infancy. The children living are: Chester Nims, of New Castle, Pa.; Minor Nims, of Fairmont, W. Va.; Mrs. Edith Dean, Alonzo Nims, Neal Nims and Miss Anna Nims of Adamsville. The deceased was a man who labored earnestly to do his duty. He loved his family and honored and respected his friends. He was a quiet inoffensive man and commanded the respect of a large circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. J. G. Gamble in the Adamsville M. E. church, after which the remains were interred in the New Hope Cemetery.
