Joy Elaine Morton, 73, Kokomo, left us on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 6:42 P.M. from I.U. Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She leaves behind a grieving but grateful family and endless good friends. She was born in Auburn, Indiana on March 22, 1939 to the late Eldon and Velma (Foland) Woodmansee. Joy graduated in Sweetser, Indiana and then married David Morton on June 5, 1959, and he survives. Joy retired from Delco Electronics in 1998. She loved going for walks, spending time with friends and trying everything. Joy put great importance on spending time with her family and friends. She was truly a joy to all, and will be deeply missed.

Joy is survived by her husband, David Morton; her children, Michelle (Greg) Scharenbroch and Chris Morton; her grandchildren, Matt and Haley; a brother, James Woodmansee; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Tracy) Cooke; sisters-in-law, Jane Woodmansee and Leanne (Bill) Young; her mother-in-law, Verlee Cooke; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a memorial service for Joy held at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Dale Bliss officiating. All of Joy's friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation on Thursday, from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service, also at the mortuary.
