Father of Confederate President Jefferson Davis

THE biographical text (below), which I wrote years ago, relates to a Rev. Samuel Davis, and not to the Samuel Davis who was father of Jefferson DAVIS. Whereas Rev. Davis and Samuel Emory Davis share a name, they are not the same person, but the confusion is understandable.

The distinct identities of each is clear when we examine their families. Reverend Davis was married to Rhodia DAVIDSON, and with her, he fathered three children: twins James & Selina, and younger brother Ethan. The other man, Samuel Emory Davis, for whom this page was created was married to Jane Simpson Cook, with whom the produced several children including the CSA President, Jefferson Davis.

As a result, the information shown in bold and the strikethrough text (below), which relates to the wrong Samuel Davis (i.e. Rev. Davis) should be removed.
