ARCHDALE — Edith Jackson Steelman, age 86, of Archdale, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012. Born in Guildford County on June 1, 1926 to Rufus Scales Tuttle and Juanita Annie Greer Tuttle. She then married her late husband of 47 years Walter Steelman Sr. and together they had two children, Walter Jr. and Brenda. She worked as a cabinet inspector for Marsh Cabinets where she retired from after 22 years.

She was a strong courageous woman who raised her two children to be honest, work hard and care for others. You could not tell her she couldn't do something because she could do anything. She loved children and cared for several in her home, and they loved her back most of the time crying when they had to leave her to go home. She was also an excellent cook and was famous for her fried chicken, potato salad, green beans and biscuits.

She fought a good fight and came out a winner because there will be no more tears or pain. Her family will be there to welcome her with open arms as she arrives at her heavenly home.

Survivors include her son, Walter Steelman Jr and his wife Peggy of High Point; daughter Brenda Johnson and her husband Ron of High Point; brother Bobby Tuttle; sister Catherine Tuttle; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 4:00pm at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery

Donations can be made in Edith's name to Hospice Home at High Point: 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262
