Violet C. Skernolis, a guest of Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly, died Tuesday at Hazleton General Hospital Born in Hazleton on Sept. 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Vincent “William” and Catherine (Shergalis) Kasper. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church, Hazleton, for more than 91 years. After the death of her mother and stepfather, Charles Shlomas, she owned and operated Shlomas Café, West Hazleton, until poor health caused her retirement in 1964.
She married Walter Skernolis in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her brother, Bill Casper; and a sister, Helene Casper. Surviving are a son, Anthony Gosdeck, and his wife, Marilyn, of Naples, Fla.
