Died, in this village, at the residence of Newell A. Ross, on the night of Thursday, January 18, 1900, Mrs. Mary R. Bacon, at the advanced age of ninety-four years and sixteen days.

Mary Rhodes Stickney was a native of St. Stevens, New Brunswick, where in 1806 she was born. Removing to Maine; Perry, near Eastport, many years. In 1842 she was married to Columbus Bacon, who preceded her into the unknown land. She has been a resident of this State for the past thirty years, coming here in 1869.

Three step-children of the family survive her: Mrs. Joseph Ross, of Princeton: Mrs. Eveline Knowlton, of Liberty, Maine: Dr. Eben Bacon, of Indianapolis.

She became a member of the Congregational church at Perry, Me., in her twentieth year and in her young and active years was a faithful and attentive member.

She retained her faculties unimpaired to the last and few people could converse with more intelligence or interest on the important happenings of our busy, times. Her disposition was sunny and attractive and a large circle
of admiring and appreciative friends and relatives remain to cherish her memory.

The funeral services were conducted at the family residence Sunday afternoon by Rev. David Donovan of the Congregational church, a large number of our citizens being present to pay their last respects to their old friend.

Sleep, genial sister, in thy silent tomb,
Free from Life's fitful fever and the cares of
passing years.
Fond friends lament thee, and Spring-time
flowers
Will bloom above thee, and the hoary pine
Will loving shadow fling above thy lonely pillow;

Tender hands in future years will shed Loves
tribute o'er thy sod
And living Faith will say, with trust sublime,
"Calm she rests at last at home with God."
