Minerva M. Ruiz, 67, was given her angel wings on Saturday, July 21, 2012 after fighting a two year battle against pancreatic cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Minerva had touched in some way throughout her memorable life. Mrs. Ruiz was born January 31, 1945 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Abel Martinez and Maria Elvia Rodriguez. She is preceded in death in death by her father, Abel Martinez, brothers, Rene and Noel Martinez. Left to cherish her memory is her loving devoted husband of 42 yrs. Reynaldo Ruiz, Sister, Eldemira (Gilberto) Obregon, brothers, Ruben (Dalia t ) Martinez, Abel (Martha) Martinez, Sandalio (Yolanda) Martinez, and Joel (Sylvia) Martinez. She is also survived by various nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Serving as pall bearers are Cesar Martinez, Rudy Ruiz, Jessie Ramirez, Sandalio Marintez Jr., Ruben Martinez Jr., and Oved Zamora, serving as honorary pall bearers are Raymond Tyler Ayala, Michael Alexander Murillo, Rafael Ojeda, Rey Navarro, Edward Bell and Hector Contreras. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was a registered nurse at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Mcallen Medical Center, La Joya ISD and Mission Hospital. The family will receive friends today, July 23, 2012 from 2 pm to 9 pm with a rosary recited at 7 pm at The Lord and I Funeral Home of Penitas Chapel. Funeral mass will Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sullivan City, Texas. Interment will follow to Havana Cemetery in Havana, Texas.
