You were not accepted by the local "Establishment", because your wealth was self-made, and because your origin was foreign (Frankfurt). You lost your beloved little daughter, who is buried with you, in this huge mausoleum. Your grave was the most expensive at Highgate Cemetary at its time (~GBP 5.000,--). We will never know, whether you spent that much in order to impress the "Establishment" ... or whether it was to show, H O W much the loss of your little daughter had hurt you. But no matter what your motives were:You are an ideal to future generations, as your wealth and position was self-earned and not just inherited, like that of those narrow-minded snobs, who - at the end of the day - were nothing but jealous, because you achieved more than they ever could have, had they been born and grown up under the very same circumstances. And I am sure you were a good father, as well. Rest in peace and sleep well. L. -Anonymous Added: Jun. 17, 2007 |

Your grave is most impressive. Its design matches the sepulchre of a Greek King - one of the Seven Wonders of the World. You rose from nothing to a man of great wealth. Rest in Peace in your grand setting. -
