Melvin Leon Downs, age 74, of Monroeville, AL died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Peterman, AL and had lived in Monroeville most of his life. He was a registered land surveyor and a member of the Monroeville First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Alabama Masonic Lodge #3 and a member of the Abba Temple Shriners of Mobile.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Delores Dunn Downs; his parents: Oscar and Dovie Downs; one brother: Douglas Downs. He is survived by numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel with with Rev. Glenn Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow in Pineville Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
