Marcia was born in Danbury, CT on December 29, 1924 to Daniel and Frances (Judd) Ludington. She graduated from Pawling High School in 1942 and received her Bachelors in Teaching from the New Paltz Teachers College.
On September 12, 1947 Marcia married Theodore S. Baker in Patterson, NY. Mr. Baker died April 26, 2009.
Marcia was a 3rd grade teacher working for the Carmel Central Schools during the early 1940's before raising her family. Through the years, she had been a member of the Whaley Pond Grange, as well as, a lifetime member of the Holmes United Methodist Church. Marcia was past church treasurer and a past president of the United Methodist Women.
Both an avid reader and cook of so many delicious recipes, it was Marcia's dedication to her family as a mom and grandmother that was dearest to her heart. Family was her full time job and her legacy.
Marcia is survived by her eight children; Charles T. Baker and his wife Noresta of Fort Plain, NY, David G. Baker of Chesapeake, VA, James H. Baker of Alexandria, VA, Caroline M. Williams and her husband Randolph of Dover Plains, NY, John S. Baker of Holmes, NY and his fiancée Doris Chiappetta, Amy Baker-Maile and her husband Tyler of Holmes, NY, Glenn D. Baker of Holmes, NY and Arthur B. Baker and his wife Victoria of Dover Plains, NY. Also 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother and sisters, Emma Jane Ludington, Charles Ludington, Anne Scarry, Frances Jacob and Daniel Ludington and her daughters-in-law, Nancy and Susan Baker.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00am at the Holmes United Methodist Church, 41 Holmes Rd., Holmes, NY. Interment following at the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, NY. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
