Carol Yvonne (Elliot-Braman) Donat, 71, of Bemidji passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at 9:40am, at the Scott and White Hospital, in Temple, Texas.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Gay Albers officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7:00pm, Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be at rest at the Farris-Farden Township Cemetery in rural Cass Lake, MN, beside her husband Dale, the love of her life.

She was the daughter born to Erma E. Elliott and Simon Williams in Fargo, ND on Nov. 2, 1940. She grew up with her grandparents George and Hazel Elliott in Cass Lake, MN. She worked for 10 years at Craig's Café in Cass Lake, as a waitress and cook. Then in 1965, she got a job at Bemidji Hospital as an Operating Room (OR) technician for one year, and then the next year went to Bemidji Vo-tech for LPN training while working in the OR. She got her license and continued to work in the OR for 34 years. Due to being on dialysis, it became too much of a strain on her to keep working. She received a kidney transplant in 2002; however she had many medical problems since then. She also went through the heartbreak of losing part of her family. She was married to Floyd Braman in the Methodist church in Cass Lake. They had two children Jerome Dale and Charlene Yvonne, before they divorced. She met Dale Donat and was married Aug. 18, 1973 at the United Methodist in Cass Lake. Dale passed away Dec. 5, 2008, now she has gone to be with the love of her life which she has greatly mourned since his passing. She leaves behind her son Jerome Dale Braman, Crookston, MN, daughter Charlene Yvonne Donat-Staranowicz, Belton, TX, and Gary McCollum (her and Dale's ‘adopted' son) Bemidji, MN. Her sisters Bonnie Pearson, Bemidji, MN, and Linda (John) Donat, Nashwaulk, MN. Her brothers Anthony (Rose) Kopervich and James (Lisa) Kopervich, Nashwaulk, MN. Her grandchildren Zachary Staranowicz, Austin, TX, and Aaron Staranowicz, Arlington, TX. Her nieces Heather (Jeff) Harguth, Kimberly (Dan) Daly and Jennifer and Amanda Kopervich. Her nephews Adam Donat, Jeremy (Liza) Donat and Richard Pearson. Her god-child Robyn Wahnschaffee. Her Pomeranian and constant companion was Bear-Bear who shall now go and live with Jerome Braman. Preceding her in death is her beloved husband Dale Donat, mother Erma Kopervich, father Simon Williams and her grandparents George and Hazel Elliott. She loved watching her favorite TV shows, playing cards, playing cards on her computer, reading, cooking, and baking. She had plans to publish a cookbook. She also loved to shop, giving, and being with her family.
