Janice "Jan" Ferguson, 62, of Jonesboro, died at 4:35pm Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at her daughter's home in Anna. She was born on July 17, 1949 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Gilbert Arrvie and Maxine Vada (Dunning) York.
She loved animals and was an avid supporter of PETA. Jan will be well remembered as the truck driving instructor at Shawnee College.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Taylor of Anna; brother, Tom York of Fort Wayne, Ind; granddaughter, Santanna Ficken of Duluth, Minn.; mother-in-law, Pam Ferguson of Dongola; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gerritt Mears, and mother-in-law, Pauline Ferguson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 11-1PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 1PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with Jim Stamp officiating. Interment will follow in Dutch Ridge Cemetery. Donations may be made to Crain Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
