Juanita Marie Penhorwood Barnhart Boerger, 82, of Springfield, formerly of West Mansfield, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center, with her family at her side, following several years of health complications.

She was born May 1, 1930, at home near Titus Corners, Zanesfield, to the late Kenneth and Mae Ramsey Penhorwood.

She married Lester Barnhart on Jan. 8, 1949, in Greenup, Ky., and he preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1961. She married Sinclair Boerger, on Dec. 31, 1963, and he preceded her in death March 17, 1970. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Penhorwood.

Survivors include her devoted children, Kathleen (Ken) Pritchard of Marion, Beverly (Frank) Jones of Ashley, Bonnie (Rod) Lease of Kenton, Tami (Vic) Deere of Belle Center and Philip Boerger of Springfield; 12 grandchildren, Marty Pritchard, Beth Pritchard, Danessa (Matt) Jones Higgins, Tony (Dawn) Jones, Jeff Jones, Derrick (Amber) Jones, George (Kristie) Kinney, Adam (Gretchen) Kinney, Opey Potts, Levi Deere, Andrew Boerger and Savannah Boerger; 19 great-grandchildren; many cousins; and her church families.

Juanita was retired from the Ben Logan School District where she was employed as a cook for many years. Remembered as a wonderful cook and well-known for her pies, she also cooked for the West Mansfield Lions Club and Camp Willson and served as a home health aide to many through the years.

She was a faithful member and active volunteer with the Springfield First Christian Church and was a former longtime member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ. She graduated from Rushsylvania High School in 1948.

Always a pet lover, Juanita especially appreciated the companionship of her current cat, "Tiger."

Though she endured much pain, Juanita possessed an optimistic outlook and always had a smile to share.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield. David Augustus officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Mansfield Church of Christ. Burial is at Ridgeway Cemetery.
