Lawson Green Wilson was born September 12, 1847 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. He was the son of George Wilson and Lucy Ann Clark Wilson.
His ancestors came from England to America.

Newspaper articles state that Lawson fought in the Civil War under General Robert E. Lee from 1861-1865.
In the year 1870 he married Elmina Green. They had 13 children.

The family emigrated to Utah in 1891 going first to North Ogden and then moving to Lehi he also lived in Highland for a while.

According to his son Joseph Elijah Lawson and his wife Lucy were converts to the Mormon church who were born and raised in the Southern States. Lawson was a farmer and raised most of the food for the family. Lucy made all of their clothes. She carded wool and cotton and wove the cloth, after spinning the thread. She tailored the clothes, knitted all the stockings and socks, besides working in the garden.

Lawson's wife Lucy died 25 years before him and he lived to the age of 89 years.

He was also survived by 39 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
He was survived by two sisters and one brother:
Elizabeth Bolen of Salt Lake City
Ida White of North Carolina
Stanhope Wilson of North Carolina

His funeral service lists Mrs. Elmo Wilson of Ophir as one of the out of town visitors to his funeral.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son Arthur Cleveland Wilson and the following children who died in Infancy:
Charles Green Wilson
Martha Ellen Wilson (twin)
Elizabeth Ann Wilson
