Richard Henry ALDRICH

Richard "Dick" Aldrich died peacefully at home in Santa Rosa, surrounded by his loving family, on April 18, 2012, following a brief battle with cancer. Richard was born to Alva and Elinor Aldrich on August 24, 1940 in Atlantic, Iowa. His family relocated to Wahoo, Nebraska before finally settling in Inglewood, California. Following graduation from Inglewood High School in 1959, he enlisted in the U.S.Navy where he served for four years on the USS Kearsarge. Richard married the love of his life, Mary Schwind, on May 19, 1962. Following the birth of their two children, James and Diane, they relocated to Santa Rosa, CA. Richard owned and operated Glenn's Metal Works from 1985 to 1997, when he sold the business to his son. An avid fisherman and hunter, Richard thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Danny, Albert and Allen. He is survived by his wife Mary, son James (Connie), daughter Diane (Rick) Saverien, grandson Kasey Ferguson, granddaughters Sarah Ferguson and Ashley Saverien; and brothers Emory (Orletha) and Howard. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Richard will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, generosity, honesty, and deep love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Mary, children James (Connie) Aldrich, and daughter Diane (Rick) Saverien; grandchildren Kasey Ferguson, Sarah Ferguson, Ashley Saverien; and brothers Emory (Orletha) and Howard. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Eugene's Cathedral, 2323 Montgomery Dr., Santa Rosa. A reception will follow at the Becker Center.
