7th of at least 13 children of Robert Daniel Armstrong & Priscilla {Dennis} Armstrong, Henry married Elizabeth Peterson on September 16, 1847 in Jefferson County, Alabama. They had 4 known children: Sara Elizabeth "Betty" {Moss} - 1849-1912; James (1852-Unknown); Martha Ann (1854-1915); and Malinda Viola {Broadhead} - 1859-1905.
Henry enlisted in the 18th Alabama Regiment Infantry, Company G, CSA, in October 1862, along with his older brother Hugh. Both were captured on November 25, 1863 at Missionary Ridge, Tennessee. On December 9, 1863, they were transferred to the Military Prison at Rock Island Barracks, Illinois. Hugh died on January 12, 1864 and Henry died on August 22, 1864 - both from pneumonia. They are both buried in the Rock Island Confederate Cemetery.
