Violet Allen, 82, Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Essentia Health, Fargo.
Violet Margaret Buchholz was born April 3, 1930 in Durbin, ND to Paul and Erna (Schulz) Buchholz. She attended elementary school in Durbin and graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton, ND. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City Teacher's College. In 1947, at age 17, she began teaching at the Erbstoesser School near Leonard, ND where she met her husband to be, Robert. Violet married Robert J. Allen on June 6, 1948 at Canaan Moravian Church near Davenport, ND where she was also baptized and confirmed. They made their home near Durbin before moving to the Arthur, ND area. In 1957, they moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area. Violet and Robert built their home in 1959 in Fargo where they have resided ever since. They enjoyed many relationships with friends and neighbors throughout the years.
Violet worked as an Avon lady for 27 years retiring at age 80. She was a member of Avon's President Club. She loved her children and grandchildren as well as gardening, flowers, and baking. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Fargo.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (RJ), Fargo; 5 children, Charlotte Swenson, Peoria, AZ, Cheryl (Wayne) Huber, Bismarck, ND, Craig Allen, Moorhead, MN, Cary (Lori) Allen, Bismarck, and Carla (Roger) Norton, Kindred, ND; nine grandchildren, Lea (Chris) Byram and kids, Cole & Kara, Brian (Cheryl) Swenson and daughter, Amanda, Trish (Cole) Berreth and kids, Brant & Nora, Troy (Jessica) Huber, Taylor Olson, Amy and Jessica Allen, Stephanie and Zachary Norton; 3 brothers, Leslie Buchholz, Lynchberg, ND, Willie Buchholz, Fargo and Arthur (Beth) Buchholz, Erie, ND; 3 sisters, Elda (Blake) Foster, Fargo, Margarete Foster, Arthur, and Paulette (Jim) Frasier, Boise, ID; and many nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arnold Buchholz; 2 sisters, Marvel Gebeke and Nancy Bakken; and son-in-law, John Swenson.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Funeral: Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
Burial: Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard, ND.
