Pamela Anne Muse died May 23, 2012 after a short hospitalization. Born August 22, 1952, she was pre-deceased by her father Paul Anthony Muse. Survivors include her cherished son Zachary Alexander Williams who attends AB Tech in Asheville, NC; her mother Marilyn Muse Shapiro (husband David) of Phoenix, AZ but soon to return to Manteo, NC; her sisters Karen Muse (husband Jay Mankedick) of Kitty Hawk; Angelina Melton (husband Dave) of New York City; Amy Lee Goodwin of Farmville, VA; and brother Michael Muse (wife Loria) of Manteo, NC. She was the beloved aunt to Victoria, Calli, Rickie Lee, Cookie (Mikel) Wings, Mikey and Joel. She would want to "smack" her best friend of many years of Karen C. Riley.

Pam currently was a teacher at Manteo Elementary School. She has taught 4th grade there for many years. Before that she taught 2 years at Tyrell Elementary School in Columbia, NC. She received her board certification in 2010. Pam moved to the Outer Banks directly after graduating high school in Woodbridge, VA because she loved the area through family vacations. She waitressed first at Duchess of Dare in Manteo, then Fernando's, Sam and Omie's, and RV's over many years. Many weekend nights were spent dancing at the Casino. She then tried her hand with a family bakery- Old Tom's Bakery in Manteo. She finally realized her true calling of teaching after deciding to start college at age 40 (as a single mother of a young son), and finishing with almost straight A's (1B!) She strived to think of new ways to grab the interest of her students and help them succeed. She cared greatly for all her students, and loved the camaraderie of her fellow teachers.

Pam's other great love was for animals. She often tended injured wildlife that she found, and rescued many cats and dogs. She also had a pet pot bellied pig "Louie" for many years. At present, she leaves 3 well-loved cats: Winston, Monk, and Rosie. Pam will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her-for her positive attitude through several tough illnesses, her wacky sense of humor and most of all her caring, loving spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donations to the Outer Banks SPCA: obxspca.rescuegroups. org/info/donate in memory of Pamela Muse or P.O. Box 1000 Manteo, NC 27954. Contributions may also be dropped off at the Manteo Shrine club.

A celebration of life will be at the graveside in Manteo Cemetery Saturday May 26,2012, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may join the family at the home of her brother 622 Vista Lake Drive Manteo, Friday from 6pm to 8pm. A reception will follow after the service.
