William Bennett, of Co. A, enrolled Aug. 25, 1861 in Angola by Capt. Kinney as a Private; mustered in Sep. 25, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Maj. Carpenter at age 38. He was 5 6 tall, sallow complexion, blue eyes, and gray hair. Born in Ontario Co., NY, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Hamilton, in Steuben Co., IN. Died of disease (typhoid pneumonia) in Hospital in Pittsburg Landing, TN, Mar. 26, 1862 with rank of Private. Notes: Buried at Shiloh National Cemetery, grave unknown.
