ATLANTA -- June Shirley Hollifield Alexander, 69, of Atlanta, died March 20, 2002, at Porps Bridge Hospice in Atlanta.

She was born in Stuart on June 7, 1932, to Nell Graham Hollifield and J. Foster Hollifield, both deceased. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Guy F. Hollifield.

Alexander graduated from Martinsville High School and Mary Washington College, both in Virginia. Before moving to Atlanta, she worked for the social services department in Roanoke, Va. While living in Atlanta, she worked at Mercer University for 25 years. After retiring, she continued working for the university on a part-time basis.

Surviving are one daughter, Brandon Snider of Suwanee; one son, Ronald Alexander of Taylors, S.C.; and one brother, Graham Hollifield of Martinsville.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Mercer University. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Park in Martinsville, where her ashes will be buried beside the graves of her parents.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donorÕs choice
