Model. A platinum blonde beauty, she shall be remembered as "Playboy" magazine's Miss July 1974. Raised in northern New Jersey, she won a dance contest at 12 and participated in both the glee and drama clubs in high school. Moving to South Florida after graduation she was a finalist in the Miss Florida/World contest, modeled in advertisments for both an Oldsmobile dealership and a racetrack, and worked as a Bunny at Miami's Playboy Club. Carol began to get her picture in the magazine and even had a bikini shot published on the August 1972 cover but was much more recognized after her July 1974 centerfold was released. Long interested in broadcasting, she earned a degree in the field in 1982 and for 11 years had her own "Carol Vitale Show" on the USA Network while continuing to model for both "Playboy" and Fredericks of Hollywood. Carol maintained homes in both Florida and Southern California between which she commuted regularly but her last decade was blighted by ill health as she suffered from Lupus and Scleroderma. Despondent over her declining condition she died by a self inflicted gunshot.
