Elmer J. Bailey, 75, of Kempton R.2, was dead on arrival Thursday at the Reading Community Hospital, West Reading. Berks County Coroner Michael Feeney attributed the death to natural causes.

Bailey was the husband of Elsie E. (Bond) Bailey. The couple observed its 54th wedding anniversary in April.

He was a masonry foreman for the Reading Railroad for 31 years until retiring in 1973.

Born in Lynn Township, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Cora M. (Rubrecht) Bailey.

He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of New Bethel Union Church, Kempton R.2.

Surviving with his widow are a daughter Marilyn, wife of Robert Seamen of Shoemakersville; three sons, Gerald E. of Belle Meade, N.J., Larry S. of Sumter, S.C., and LaMar D. of Kutztown; two sisters, Arlene, wife of Ivan Berger of Kempton R.2, and Laura, wife of Stanley Berger of Reading; a brother Earl of Allentown; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchi ld.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church. A calling hour will precede the services. The Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, New Ringgold R.2, is in charge of arrangements.
