Sylvia Susanna Turner Blake, 99, passed away Sunday, December 18, 1993 at the home of her son in Phelan, California of causes incident to age.

She was born November 7, 1894 in Giles, Utah to Lorenzo and Lydia Hall Turner. The family later moved to Delta, Utah. She married Horace Charles Blake November 28, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death November 12, 1975.

They lived in Bountiful, Utah most of their married life where Sylvia was active in both her church and in the community. She served in the Primary as teacher and later president. She was work director in the Relief Society for many years. She had a special love for the DUP and served an an officer in the John Pack Camp.

She and her husband were avid rosarians and won many awards with their roses. They were instrumental in beginning community rose gardens in Bountiful and West Bountiful. She was a skilled homemaker and won many ribbons at county and state fairs with her exquisite needlework and quilts as well as in culinary arts. She served as a judge in county fairs throughout Utah. She and her husband were active in the American Legion and Veterans of World War I organizations.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Ferol Platt (Paul), Holladay; Mary Lu Koenig (John), Phoenix, Arizona; Charles H. Blake (Sandra), Phelan, California; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 12 noon, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 2nd East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
