Tom was my Dad, William Hester Abernathy's first cousin. Tom was the son of Frank Abernethy of the Hickory Grove Section of Gaston County, N.C. Tom fought in WWII and married Lillian Edwards. They were faithful members of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Gaston County, N.C. They were my neighbors growing up and their son, Tommy and daughter, Janet are very good friends. Tom was a kind/gentle man like all the Abernathys.
