Saronville resident Robert "Pete" Alberts, 87, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his home. Pete was born July 29, 1924, to Clarence and Grace (Wells) Alberts on a farm in Clay County, NE.

Pete married Verla L. Jones on July 2, 1955, and they had two daughters. Robert attended Saronville School through 10th grade and graduated from Sutton High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. After his service in World War II, he worked for C.B.&Q. Railroad Signal Department as a signal foreman from 1948-1963. He was a self-employed electrician and T.V. repairman. Robert then farmed until retirement in 1989.

Robert was a member of the Sutton American Legion Argonne Post #61 and the VFW. His hobbies included golf, fishing, wood crafting and he loved to draw Popeye. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband and father and a caring friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all.

Robert is survived by: wife Verla Alberts of Saronville, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Glenn Ulmer of Dawsonville, GA; Sandra and Daniel Beahm of Saronville, NE; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Pete was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Ole, Barney and Lee Alberts and an infant sister.

Graveside services with military honors by the American Legion Argonne Post #61, Sutton, NE were at the Saronville United Methodist Cemetery, Saronville, NE.
