John H. Anderson, Carmi, April 22, 2016

John H. Anderson, 88, of Carmi passed away at 12:25 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at Carmi Manor Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born April 8, 1928 in Heralds Prairie, IL the son of William McKinley and Miriam Doris (Curtiss) Anderson. John married Betty P. Austin on December 24, 1953 and she survives. John retired from the City of Carmi where is had worked for many years as a mechanic. He was a member of Enfield Missionary Baptist Church and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty of Carmi; a daughter, Dixie Anderson Norris City; two sons and daughters-in-law, McKinley and Kelly Anderson of Evansville, IN and Demont and Sheri Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IN; three grandchildren, Paige Anderson, Chelsea Anderson and Joseph Anderson and wife Rhiannon; a sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Tom Cozart of Carmi; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Carole Anderson of Carmi.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Anderson; two sisters, Phyllis Dudley and Wilma Wallace; and two brothers, William and Charles Anderson.

Funeral services for John H. Anderson, 88, of Carmi will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery near Carmi. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Carmi Manor Rehab and Nursing Center, 615 W. Webb St., Carmi, IL 62821 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
