Actress. Born Florence Arto. While pursuing local acting opportunities she met and eventually married Texan freelance photographer King Vidor. Later The Vidors traveled to Hollywood where a few months later she signed a contract with Thomas Ince. The first of Vidor's film roles to attract attention was the tragic production of "A Tale of Two Cities". (1917) Vidor was next cast as leading lady opposite Sessue Hayakawa in "Hashimura Togo" (1917). Vidor performed in fifty-nine feature films, often cast in upper-class or aristocratic roles. Her best known silent films include "The Marriage Circle" (1924) and "Barbara Frietchie" (1924). Vidor's first talkie, "Chinatown Nights" (1929), was also her last film, she retired to devote her time to her second husband, violinist Jascha Heifetz.
