Christen left Denmark about 1890 and arrived in Northern Ireland where he met and married Catherine Cunningham. It was during this time where he converted to Catholicism and began using the name Christopher. He resided with his family in Liverpool, England in the early 1900's and was employed as a seaman.
Christopher immigrated to the United States in May of 1906 aboard the S.S. Bovic and lived in New Jersey until the mid 1920's.
