Jesse Ray Guthrie, 74, of the Tanglewood Community near Lexington, Lee County, Texas, died Nov. 24 in a Rockdale hospital. Funeral services were held Nov. 28 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas, with the Rev. John Warren officiating. Burial followed on the family ranch near Tanglewood [sic]. Guthrie was born Jan. 29, 1931 in Comanche County, Texas. He was a rancher and cattleman. He had been a mobile home dealer and a fur trader in Bandera and Tanglewood after having coached Center, Colorado to a state championship in football and later coached in California and New Mexico. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Carrizozo, New Mexico, and a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales and earned his masters degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.
