Alvina Marie Acker, a resident of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the age of 97 years 6 months and 17 days.
The daughter of Herman and Clara Minnie Bertha (Luedtke) Ortgies, Alvina was born September 29, 1909, South East of Wiota in Franklin Township. She later grew up in the Union Township East of Cumberland.
Her hobbies included gardening, canning and freezing fruit and vegetables, taking care of chickens and quilting.
She was baptized in the Lutheran Church South of Wiota. In 1932 she and Clarence Acker were married in the Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE. They farmed SE of Atlantic until moving to Atlantic in 1975.
Alvina was a 50-year member of the Women’s Grove Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; two brothers, Anton and John Ortgies; sister-in-law, Rosie Ortgies; and grandson Jeffrey Weppler.
