Also known as "John Pascasio Bañaga"

Son of Pelagio Reyes Pascasio and Eduviges de la Cruz Bañaga. Anselmo was born in San Antonio, Zamables, Philippines in 1902. He joined the US Navy in 1919 as a bugler. Anselmo used the alias name "John Pascasio Bañaga" for the remainder of his life after "jumping ship" (deserting) in either Seattle or San Francisco in the 1920's. John eventually made his way to the Chicago area where he worked as a jazz musician, predominately on stand-up bass, but he played guitar and sang as well. He also worked as a cab driver. He was married twice, the second time to Swedish immigrant, Linnea Ann Lindman (aka "Auntie") around 1965. After retiring and living in the Gary, Indiana area, John and Lennea, along with their cat, Melody, moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1971. Their residence was only five short blocks away from John's nephew, Wilfredo "Fred" Pascasio Lucero, and his family. Linnea died in September 1986. In 1988, John moved to the residence of his niece, Adoracion Pascasio Lucero, in Los Angeles, California. He remained living in Los Angeles until his death in 1996.
